About Us
At Talo Design Workshop, we design spaces that endure. Our journey began in graduate school, where a shared passion for architecture and design led us to study abroad in Finland. Immersed in the Finnish principles of simplicity, functionality, and craftsmanship, we were inspired to bring these values into our work. The name Talo—Finnish for “house”—reflects this inspiration, symbolizing our belief that a well-designed home is more than shelter; it is a foundation for a meaningful life.
We believe your project should reflect your values and stand the test of time, offering both inspiration and utility for generations. Our work emphasizes thoughtful design, early collaboration, and careful coordination with experienced builders and craftspeople. By aligning goals early and maintaining clear communication throughout the process, we help create well-executed projects and a more predictable experience for our clients. Craft and quality are at the heart of everything we do, because we believe lasting design is the antidote to a disposable culture. Whether transforming an existing home or creating something entirely new, we guide clients through the process with expertise, integrity, and a dedication to doing things the right way.
Architectural Design
We create thoughtful, client-focused designs tailored to your project’s site, context, and unique character. From initial concepts through fully developed construction documents, our work balances beauty, performance, and buildability.
Design & Construction Collaboration
We collaborate closely with licensed general contractors, consultants, and craftspeople to support a smooth transition from design into construction. This collaborative approach encourages early coordination, informed decision-making, and strong alignment between design intent and execution. Design and construction services are provided under separate agreements.
Residential Remodeling & Additions
We specialize in reimagining homes to better suit the way you live today. Whether preserving a historic character or designing a complementary addition, we approach each project with care, creativity, and attention to detail, working closely with builders to ensure the design is executed with precision.
Our Team
Austin Gohl Owner + Architect
Austin is an award-winning architect, proud father, and avid mountain biker and runner. He spent much of his early life walking jobsites, perusing lumber yards, and avoiding the ammonia-tinged scent of his father’s blueprint room—his father being an architect in a small Vermont town. These experiences sparked his appreciation for how thoughtfully designed spaces shape the way we live, work, and connect.
Austin honed his craft at top design firms in Denver and Los Angeles, working on single-family residences, municipal buildings, higher education facilities, and cultural spaces. Before becoming an architect, he spent over five years in international development, managing programs across Africa, the Middle East, and Latin America. This background sharpened his skills in project management, collaboration, and navigating complex stakeholder environments—qualities he brings to his design work.
As co-owner of Talo Design Workshop, Austin brings a deep commitment to creating architecture that harmonizes beauty, function, and sustainability. He believes the best designs emerge from meaningful collaboration, thoughtful problem-solving, and a clear understanding of each project’s unique context and constraints. Guided by these principles, Austin approaches every project as an opportunity to craft spaces that are innovative, enduring, and uniquely tailored to the needs of his clients.

Cameron Keilty-Lucas Owner + Contractor
Cameron grew up in an old Minnesotan foursquare that was constantly under construction, where exposed framing, tangled electrical wires, and shifting walls fueled his curiosity. His father instilled in him the belief that great construction requires patience, precision, and care—that every detail, no matter how small, contributes to the integrity and longevity of a project.
Originally drawn to biology and chemistry, Cameron earned a degree in Life Sciences before realizing he craved the hands-on creativity of building. He apprenticed under a master carpenter, refining his skills in fine woodwork and custom furniture, before launching his own landscape design business specializing in high-end decks and outdoor spaces. His interest in the relationship between nature and the built environment eventually led him to pursue architecture, where he combined his construction expertise with thoughtful design.
In 2023, Cameron founded Birch Design, a design-build construction firm that quickly gained traction. His success in seamlessly integrating design and construction became the catalyst for launching Talo Design Workshop in partnership with Austin. As co-owner and general contractor, Cameron ensures that every project is both beautifully crafted and built to last. His deep construction knowledge allows him to translate design ideas into reality, navigating challenges with precision and care.
When he’s not on a job site, Cameron is often outside with his two young boys—skiing, fishing, camping, and biking. His love for the outdoors influences his approach to design and construction, reinforcing his belief in creating spaces that foster connection, longevity, and a sense of place.
